Description
Winston’s Paw It Forward Fund was created to assist pet owners in helping their beloved furry family members receive the proper treatment and care when diagnosed with cancer. In many cases properly diagnosing cancer and pursuing a proper treatment plan can be costly and not financially possible for many pet parents. As a veterinarian, I have firsthand knowledge and experience with sadly giving pet owners the tragic news that his or her animal has cancer. I have guided many patients through treatment options and follow-up appointments. Additionally, I experienced cancer treatments with my own dog and best friend Winston. The purpose of this fund is to provide pet owners with financial support and assistance during this difficult time. Ultimately, I want to provide hope and viable options during a sometimes devastating and heart breaking time in our pet’s lives. Any donations will go directly to animals in need and the fund will work directly with local oncologists in the area.
Here is Winston’s Story:
My beloved Winston was an Irish Setter/beagle mix who began his life in a research laboratory. It was love at first sight when I met him at the age of one. I knew immediately Winston was a special soul – full of love and kindness. He became a certified therapy dog and traveled to hospitals and schools to visit with children. In November of 2019 Winston was diagnosed with a cancer called bronchoaveolar carcinoma . He underwent surgery to have the mass removed from his lung lobe and then successfully completed six rotations of chemotherapy. His prognosis even with surgery and chemotherapy was about a year but Winston had an additional two and half years of quality and happy time. His legacy will live on through this fund and through helping other animals to live healthy, loving and fulfilling lives with owners that value each and every moment with their beloved pets.
